Tuberculosis Programmes

RISDT has taken up this programme in association with Government of Andhra Pradesh, Department of Health & Family Welfare since 2002. Under the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP), the Andhra Pradesh State Government has divided the East Godavari district into 11 Tuberculosis Units.  While 10 units are directly maintained by Andhra Pradesh State Government through its Primary Health Centres, the Rural India Self Development Trust, Kathipudi in its capacity as an NGO is entrusted with the maintenance of the remaining one unit in the year 2003.  The Unit which has been allotted to RISDT consists of 5 Mandals and 9 Primary Health Centres covering a population of 4,47,199.  Watching the dedicated services of RISDT, The State Government allotted one more TB Unit during the year 2015 thus covering an area of 50 KM and 5.53 lakhs population in 7 Mandals and 19 Primary Health Centres.   So far 13,063 cases identified, of which 12,054 Tuberculosis patients recuperated from T.B. till March 2021.  Another 412 cases  are under treatment at present.  RISDT has instituted five Diagnostic Centres in its area of operation.
