HIV/AIDS Care Treatment Centre

In the year 2008, the Andhra Pradesh State Aids Society (APSACS) has sanctioned the Community Care Centre (CCC) to RISDT. Now, it has been upgraded to a 20 bedded Emmaus diagnostic treatment including surgical care to HIV infected a Care Centre (ECC) which provides HIV/AIDS infected adults, pregnant women and children. So far RISDT has treated a) 1056 patients as OP, b) 312 patients admitted on criticality and c) 52 surgeries were conducted on HIV/AIDS patients for different problems. On witnessing the dedicated services towards HIV/AIDS community, the Andhra Pradesh State AidS Control Society has designated RISDT as the authorized “LAC Art Centre” for HIV/AIDS patients covering three mandals in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh. Providing ART medicines and attending their other ailments for about 300 patients in our operating area.

RISDT’s Initiative For Children Affected by HIV/AIDS

IIndia could be a home to about 4 million children affected by AIDS (CABA) by 2025. At present >2.50 million people in India live with HIV. Out of which 0.5 million (5,00,000) are in Andhra Pradesh. Of the 2 districts in Andhra Pradesh with high number of HIV/AIDS, East Godavari district has 50,325 patients. Nearly 15,000 children affected and infected by AIDS, exist in the RISDT located district.
Presently, there are 5 orphan children affected by HIV/AIDS under the total care of RISDT in the RISDT’s campus at Kathipudi. Several more such children are seeking such protection, care and support of RISDT. RISDT proposes to take in at least 25 girls out of 15,000 children affected and infected by HIV/AIDS in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh, those who are leading miserable life without both parents for providing total care.

Integrated Counseling and Testing Centre [F-ICTC]

The Mobile ICTC in East Godavari District was managed by RISDT in non-tribal mandals, covering 53 out of 60 mandals in the district. MICTC covers around 1000 Non-ANC and ANC clients every month. The RISDT/MICTC was able to reach all corners of the district and provide HIV diagnostic services including pre-test and post-counselling. In 2014 – 10,396 persons were tested for HIV and 47 of them were diagnosed as positive. Further, in partnership with SAATII – Public Private Partnership Project, RISDT established an F-ICTC in its Emmaus Care Centre (ECC) to provide HIV diagnostic services, positive prevention through conducting positive deliveries with utmost care and follow up till the baby attains 18 months of age and receives HIV anti-body test results. During 2014 – 589 individuals were tested for HIV, of which 70 were found positive. Now this programme has been withdrawn by the State Government.
