The provision of medical attention can be life-changing for a person affected by a disease. In a rural context, few things are more important than one’s health and ability to earn livelihood.
Driven by the concern, the RISDT has been catering to the health needs of the region focusing on Leprosy, Tuberculosis (TB), and HIV/AIDS. We are striving to provide best quality care covering till the last mile in testing, preventing, treating and rehabilitating the persons and families affected by the diseases. RISDT’s interventions for a healthy and empowered rural India.
RISDT is committed to continue its fight to end the diseases that has condemned sufferers to isolation and rejection by early detection, offering care and treatment with rehabilitation opportunities through its partners. RISDT offers it years of expertise and knowledge to the partners for effective involvement to go through till the last mile.

Leprosy control programme in East & West Godavari Districts of Andhra Pradesh
Starting with SET (survey education and training) in the year 1986 RISDT has extended various leprosy control programmes like DISPEL (Disability Prevention and Education in Leprosy), DPMR (Disability Prevention & Medical Rehabilitation), POID (Prevention of Impairments and Disability), CDLCP (Comprehensive District Leprosy Control Project), and Leprosy Rehabilitation Centre over last 35 years. It continues to treat over 4000 patients annually in its Leprosy Control Unit situated in Kathipudi and at patients door step.
TB control progamme

TB control progamme
Started TB treatment programme in the year 1995 with support of Government of Andhra Pradesh, as a part of RNTCP (Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme) serving the society to recognize, register and provide the medication at patient’s door step.
The Government has sanctioned a population of 1,80,000 covering 136 villages and 3 towns as trail and on successful completion Government of India has sanctioned Tuberculosis Treatment Unit (TB-TU) which covers a population of 5,00,000 with 10 Primary Health Centres and one Referral Hospital (RISDT).
HIV / AIDS programme

HIV / AIDS programme
Started HIV/AIDS programmes in 2008 with the Initiation of CCC (Community Care Centre) treatment & care facility for people living with HIV & AIDS at Kathipudi, extended the services to ICTC (integrated care and testing centre), BALASAHAYOGA program for people living with HIV/AIDS and CABA (children affected by AIDS) a program taking care of children affected by due to parents suffering from the disease.
In 2013 RISDT started ECC (Emmaus care centre) with the help of FAIRMED to a dedicated facility to perform operations people living with HIV/AIDS.
